7 Steps To A Working Channel List

1. Open the Play Store

   From the Android TV home screen, open the Google Play Store. Unlike Fire OS, IPTV players are available here directly and nothing needs enabling first.

2. Install a player

   Search for TiViMate if you want the best guide and recording, or IPTV Smarters Pro if you want the most familiar interface. Install whichever suits you — both work well on Android TV.

3. Add your playlist

   Open the app and choose Add Playlist, then Xtream Codes. This brings the channel list, the programme guide and the on-demand library together in one step.

4. Enter your credentials

   Type the server URL, username and password exactly as sent. An Android TV remote makes typing slow — the Google Home app on your phone can act as a keyboard and is much faster.

5. Wait for the EPG

6. Tidy the channel groups

7. Set the playback options

   Set the buffer to two to four seconds, confirm hardware decoding is enabled, and set the device output to 4K rather than Auto in the Android display settings.
