How To Set Up IPTV On Samsung And LG Smart TVs
A modern Samsung or LG television runs IPTV on its own, with no box, no extra remote and no HDMI input to switch to. It is the simplest setup there is. The trade-off is a smaller choice of apps — TiViMate is not available on either platform.
Before you start
- A Samsung Tizen or LG webOS television, roughly 2016 or newer
- Your M3U URL for Smart IPTV, or Xtream Codes for IPTV Smarters
- A phone or computer for the MAC address portal

Choose your app
Smart IPTV is the most widely used on both platforms. IPTV Smarters and Net IPTV are the main alternatives and accept Xtream Codes credentials directly, which some people find simpler.

Install from the TV store
Open Samsung Apps on Tizen or the LG Content Store on webOS, search for the app and install it. Both stores carry all three of the options above.

Note the MAC address
If you chose Smart IPTV, the first launch shows a MAC address and a portal URL. Write the MAC down exactly. Apps that take Xtream Codes directly skip this entire step.

Upload your playlist
On a phone or computer, open the portal shown on screen, enter the MAC address and paste your M3U URL. There is no account to create — the MAC address is the key.

Restart the app
Close it completely on the television and reopen it. It fetches the playlist you uploaded. If the MAC screen returns, the upload has not registered — check the address for a typo.

Activate if asked
Smart IPTV runs free for seven days, then asks for a small one-off fee tied to that MAC address. It goes to the app developer and is separate from your subscription.

Adjust picture settings
Turn off motion smoothing — it is called Auto Motion Plus on Samsung and TruMotion on LG. It adds latency and produces artefacts on live sport, and it is the worst default setting on both platforms.

The MAC follows the television
Replace the set and you start again with a new MAC and a new activation. Nothing about your subscription changes.
Wired if you can
Both platforms have an Ethernet port. Using it is the single most effective change for 4K stability on a Smart TV.

Can I install TiViMate on a Samsung TV?
No. TiViMate is Android-only and there is no Tizen or webOS build. Use Smart IPTV, IPTV Smarters or Net IPTV instead, or plug in an Android device such as a Firestick.
Why will the app not install on my Smart TV?
Usually the television is too old for the current app version. Check for a firmware update first. If the set predates about 2016, a cheap streaming stick is the practical answer.
Do I need a box for a Samsung or LG TV?
No, if the set is recent enough to install an IPTV app. A box only becomes necessary on older televisions, or if you specifically want TiViMate.
